Originals vs. Prints
What is the difference between an original painting and a print?
An original painting is a one-of-a-kind work created entirely by hand , no two are alike. It carries the physical history of its making: brushstrokes, texture, layering, and the artist's direct touch. A print (or fine art print) is a high-quality reproduction of an existing artwork, produced digitally on archival paper or canvas. Prints are available in multiples; originals are not.
How do I know a listing is for an original and not a print?
Each listing is clearly labelled as Original Painting or Art Print in the product title and description. If you are ever unsure, reach out before purchasing, I'm alaways is happy to confirm.
Materials & Medium
What materials are the original paintings made with?
SoulCurryArt originals are created using professional-grade paints on canvas. The specific medium (acrylic, oil, mixed media) and canvas material are noted in each individual product listing. When in doubt, check the product description or ask directly.
Are the art prints archival quality?
Yes. Prints are produced using inkjet printing on art-quality paper, designed for longevity. My fine art prints are created at museum grade level and stay true for motre than 100 years. To preserve colour over time, it is always recommended to avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight after framing.
Editions, Rarity & Availability
Are originals available in limited editions?
By definition, each original painting exists as a single unique work, there is only one. Some print editions may be limited; edition details are specified in the individual listing when applicable.
What happens when an original sells?
Once an original sells, it is gone. If you are drawn to a piece, I recommend not waiting. I have payment option plans available on request, where a collector can reserve an artwork, pay in 2 or 4 equal interest free payments, and once complete, the the artwork is shipped to them. Authenticity & Signature
Are the originals signed?
Original paintings are signed by me. Signature placement (front or back) is noted in the product listing where applicable.
Do originals come with a certificate of authenticity?
All original paintings are accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity. Certificate details vary by work and are specified in the individual product listing. If a certificate of authenticity is important to your purchase, please confirm availability before ordering.
Framing
Do originals come framed?
Some original artworks are sold framed, this is stated clearly in the listing title and description. All art prints are sold unframed. Frame recommendations for standard print sizes are available on the FAQ page.
Can I request a different frame for an original?
Custom framing requests can be discussed before purchase. Contact the artist to explore options.
Shipping & Packaging
How are original paintings packed and shipped?
Originals are packed with care using protective materials suited to the size and medium of the work, typically rigid packaging to prevent bending or impact during transit. All orders ship with a tracking number sent to the buyer once dispatched.
How long does shipping take?
Orders are usually dispatched within 3–5 business days from my Montreal studio. Delivery timelines vary by destination. International buyers are responsible for any applicable customs duties or import taxes.
Is studio pickup available?
Yes , local pickup from the Montreal studio is available and encouraged. It is a great opportunity to see works in person. Select the pickup option at checkout or reach out to arrange it.
Artwork Care
How do I care for an original painting?
Keep the work away from direct sunlight and humidity extremes. Do not clean the surface with water or solvents. For framed originals behind glass, a soft dry cloth on the glass is sufficient. If the work requires restoration or cleaning, consult a professional conservator.
How do I care for a framed art print?
Lay prints flat for 24 hours after receiving them — especially larger rolled prints — to allow them to relax before framing. Once framed, keep away from direct sunlight to prevent fading over time. A soft dry cloth can be used on the glass surface.
