The Dreaded Creative Slump

The Dreaded Creative Slump

Every creative person who crosses your path will tell you that this creative slump has no end date, it is scary as can be and the more we try to think about it, the deeper the slump pulls us in. The spark, enthusiasm, impetus and momentum is missing and that is what artists fear the most.

While everyone has their own approach of breaking out of a creative rut, here are some of the things you could try when you feel stuck in the meh days. When the momentum is missing and you try hard to find the spark.

The Mad-Men Modern style evolution

The Mad-Men Modern style evolution

How does an artist find a style? Or does the style find the artist instead? Is there such a thing as a "style" or is it what feels right in that moment? For me, it has been a daily practice of feeling and expressing something onto a surface, till it felt right and authentic to what I was hoping to achieve.

Healing with Art

Healing with Art

Art, or any kind of creative practice is a way to reclaim and celebrate our authentic selves. It is mean of self expression, a channel for emotions and feelings. A perfect way to explore our immediate moment, to relax and think about where we envision ourselves, and where we want to be headed.

The Blues Run the Game - Moody Blue moodboard

The Blues Run the Game - Moody Blue moodboard

The very first mood board features my favorite color: Moody Blue. Deep dark and dramatic, this rich blue is like a walk at midnight, the deepest part of the river, flowing like the royal blue ink in an glass ink pot. Harmonizing beautifully with wood accents, deep walnuts, mid century modern inspired decor. Compliments the earthy tones of burnt orange, terracotta, sunshine yellow and off whites.

How To Put Together A Gallery Wall

How To Put Together A Gallery Wall

Few things are more effective at transforming a house into a home than a beautifully curated galley wall. Filled with nostalgic photographs, carefully chosen frames, and treasured artworks, no two are the same. While that’s surely part of the allure, it also means planning a statement wall can be a daunting challenge. To make things easier, here are some of my tips to help you put together your perfect gallery wall.

How To Buy Art Responsibly and Ethically

How To Buy Art Responsibly and Ethically

Support real art. Follow real people on social media, who create. Follow local Etsy craftspeople and support local art galleries, craft markets. Support your musicians, artists, jewelers, knitters, crafters, potters, poets, painters, sculptors. You will be able to share in the creativity of their everyday journeys, not just the pretty staged picture at the end. ENGAGE at any level. Share our heartbreak too. As makers, we are deeply grateful for the love you share with us.

My Battle with Online Art Theft

My Battle with Online Art Theft

Over the past couple months, I have been relentlessly trying to get unscrupulous drop shipping companies to stop selling my art that is blatantly stolen by Ali Express. The network is so large, so widespread of ruthlessly stealing from small makers, artists and craftspeople from all over the world.
They steal our intellectual property, mass produce them in China and have them drop shipped for pennies to make gigantic profits.

Banerjee encourages people buying art from third-party websites to make sure the company has a deal with the artist. Look for a link to the artist’s page on the website, and not just one but several works by the same artist, often with their signature on them.
“Until people become aware, as responsible buyers, (this will continue),” she said. “These guys are really taking advantage. And it’s not even plagiarism. This is straight-up theft.”

A Black & White moment

A Black & White moment

Black and white is timeless, it is modern and classic. It can be minimal or decadent. In fashion and decor, art, textiles and ceramics, black and white will transcend language and will continue to hold its appeal for centuries.
I use black everywhere in my work. playing with the positive and negative forms in The Couple, the inky black nothingness of The Abyss. The rendition of a vividly colorful Parrot in black and white patterns which focuses on surface embellishments rather than its color.

The Relaxed Scandinavian-Bohemian style

The Relaxed Scandinavian-Bohemian style

Scandinavian-bohemian combo is a delectable blend of a scaled-back and insanely stylish version of the free-spirited aesthetic set within the confines of a clutter-free zone. Maybe it's our perpetual state of wanderlust that resulted in this style, maybe it was the need to add color to the neutral, but the end result is this artful mix of a cool "undone" yet curated boho-chic look.
